If you are over a certain age Christmas in the past would have been much more traditional and the Birth of Christ would have played a big part. School Nativity plays or singing carols around a blazing fire. Today many celebrate Christmas as a secular holiday and the true meaning is disappearing.

Today, the Gospel of Matthew invites us to traverse a different kind of ‘wilderness’ – the wilderness of the heart. John the Baptist was clear; we are invited to ‘die’ to sinful ways and be re-born in Christ.
