As shared in the New Testament reading for Palm Sunday (Phil. 2: 5-11) , St. Paul reflects upon the divine will of Christ in his approach and submission to crucifixion on Good Friday. In his letter, Paul invites: “Let the same mind be in you as in Christ Jesus“, because it is this same state of attention and obedience to divine will that will set us – both as individuals and as a Church community – on the path to fulfillment in our relationship with God. Today’s Sermon explores Paul’s own narrative concerning the divine will as exemplified in Christ’s passion. In this exploration we discover that to be “of one mind with Christ” is, in fact, to empty ourselves completely of our own needs and expectations, seeking instead to find these same in God’s purpose for us.
