In the 25th chapter of Matthew’s Gospel, Jesus relates the parable of the 10 Bridesmaids. Here, we’re reminded that a heart prepared for the Lord is also one prone to selfless acts, in the service of others. Nowhere is that better exemplified than spontaneous generosity in peace, or bravery in war.
